A bit about me: Maggie Johnson - Professional Horse Trainer & Ranch Versatility Competitor. Founder of Fortis Ridge Stock and Quarter Horses (Home to Metal N Lace quarter horse stallion)

With over a decade of professional experience, I have been training and developing horses since the age of 15, specialising in producing safe, willing partners for both the performance arena and working station/farm and "ranch" environments. My training philosophy draws heavily on the principles of Buck Brannaman and Ray Hunt, focusing on creating soft, responsive horses with strong foundations and clear minds. ​
Throughout my career I have proudly produced numerous horses who have gone on to excel across a range of disciplines, with particular emphasis on ranch versatility and cow events. I've earned multiple accolades including Junior Horse Ranch Versatility Super Horse Awards and Junior Horse Ranch Versatility Overall Champion titles. ​
Currently, my junior horse holds the title of Reserve National Champion across Australia, and we are excited to compete in this year's national championships in ranch events. We recently competed at the RHAA 2025 Qld State show and came away with Overall Reserve Champion Junior Horse.
Beyond competition, I am passionate about developing young horses, especially starting them under saddle and guiding them toward becoming reliable, high-performing partners. My previous work with unhandled Brumbies - particularly stallions and colts - has been some of the most rewarding, rehabilitating them from wild to willing and placing them in lifelong homes.

As I continue to compete and train at a national level, I am seeking partners who share a passion for horsemanship, excellence, and the future of Australian performance horses.
